The problem of revealing analytical structure in processes containing some periodicities and non-periodical trend is considered. The incorrectness of using the Fourier- transformation for solving this problem is shown. The reasons for this are investigated in detail. To this end, the appropriate specialized methods are proposed, G-transformation being among them. Its efficiency is demonstrated using some examples of optical and radar signatures
