The main tasks of the section 

  • Coordination of scientific research in the field of exoplanet studies
  • Taking part in the devising the long-term plans for the development of astronomy
  • Examination of scientific projects
  • Annual discussion of key results
  • Conducting scientific conferences and schools on exoplanets
  • Publication of proceedings of conferences
  • Holding annual section meetings
  • Cooperation with other sections of the SCA and international cooperation

During 2018, all the proposals for the formation of commissions will be considered to get formed and approved at the SCA bureau in December 2018.


History of the Section:

The section was formed in December 2017 by decisionof  the SCA Bureau.

Regulation on Section No. 16 

  1. Section 16 “Exoplanets” (hereinafter referred to as the Section) is a scientific advisory and the expert unit of the Scientific Council of the Russian Academy of Sciences in (hereinafter referred to as the Council). The Section includes leading Russian scientists. The Section carries out its activities under the direct supervision of the Council and ceases its activity by decision of the Bureau of the Council, agreed with the Academician-Secretary of the Physical Sciences Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
  2. The section consists of commissions reflecting the largest scientific areas of its activities. Commissions will be formed during 2018.
  3. The section is headed by a chairman elected by the members of the bureau of the Council. The structure of the Section is developed by the participants of the Section and is approved by the Chairman of the Council. Chairpersons of the commissions are elected by the members of the Section.
  4. The Bureau of the Section consists of the chairman, the deputy and the scientific secretary.
  5. The commissions may form working groups reflecting the most important scientific and scientific-technical directions of their activities.
  6. A section meets at least 2 times a year. The last of the meetings is held at the end of the calendar year. It examines the report of the Section and approves the list of the most important scientific results of the passing year.
  7. The structure of the Section, its subject and list of members of the bureau are reviewed, as a rule, once every 4 years.
  8. All decisions are made by a simple majority, by open vote with a quorum of 2/3 of the payroll. All forms of electronic voting are allowed.
  9. The organizational and technical support for the functioning of the Section is carried out by the base organization, that is, as a rule, the organization which employs the chairman of the Section.
  10. The section, within its scope, is engaged in:
  • Coordination of scientific research in the field of exoplanet studies
  • Taking part in the devising the long-term plans for the development of astronomy
  • Examination of scientific projects
  • Annual discussion of key results
  • Conducting scientific conferences and schools on exoplanets
  • Publication of proceedings of conferences
  • Holding annual section meetings
  • Cooperation with other sections of the SCA and international cooperation
  1. The recommendations proposed by the Section, the implementation of which requires the adoption of organizational decisions, are submitted to the Council.

 

Regulation on the procedure for the submission of works nominated as scientific and technical-scientific achievements on the subject of Section No. 16 for the current year

In order to objectively evaluate the works put forward by scientific institutions as scientific and technical-scientific achievements by the end of the year, we propose to submit such works in the following form:

  • Title of the work (an article, a monograph, a report).
  • First author and a co-authors of the work (last names, first names, middle names, academic degrees, academic ranks, positions).
  • Statement of achievement (up to 3 sentences).
  • An abstract revealing the essence of achievement, novelty, scientific and practical significance, recommendations for use (no more than 3 pages).
  • Presentation of a scientific institution.

 

The proposed achievements should be relevant to the topic of the Section. Expertise of achievements is carried out by the appropriate commissions of the Section. The final opinion on the works nominated as scientific achievements is adopted at a meeting of the Section by open vote. The conclusion on each of the accepted works is communicated to the departments according to the affiliation of the scientific institution – the contractor.

A complete list of the supported works and their annotations is to be published in the annual report of the Section.

Works must be submitted before December 1 of the current year. The works should be sent by e-mail to the scientific secretary of section No. 16 Levkina P.A.
