In this seminar I will present, after a general introduction about Cataclysmic Variables (CVs), the multi-frequency results and a discussion about the nature of SS Cygni system: magnetic or non-magnetic. The goal of a detailed discussion about the two possibilities is that of convincing the audience that SS Cygni is magnetic. This CV is placed just in the area of the intermediate polars in the Lipunov’s diagram log Pspin Vs y (Spin period of the white dwarf Vs the Gravimagnetic parameter). If the nature of SS Cygni would be non-magnetic, we should be obliged to reconsider the well accepted physical parameters and behaviour that characterize the intermediate polars.
