Several tens of young massive stars reside near SgrA*, the supermassive black hole in the Galactic Center. Their location and kinematics point to a highly unusual birth and life history. In my talk, I will discuss several theoretical ideas about the young stars’ origin, and will show how these ideas relate to more general issues in stellar and gas dynamics near supermassive black holes.
