India has a long history of Astronomy over several hundred years. The ARIES has completed more than 50 years in the frontline studies in the Astronomy. A brief history of astronomical studies being made in India and specially at ARIES will be presented in this talk.

Название доклада: “A technique to do astrometry on wide field (30′ X 30′) images will be discussed. This technique has been applied on two nearby globular clusters NGC 6397 and M4 and is very effective to separate the cluster members from field stars. We found ~10 mas/year accuracy in astrometry.”
