      Theory of star formation and astrochemistry
      Dynamics of shells around stars at different evolutionary stages
      Evolution of galaxies and the intergalactic medium
      Minor bodies of the Solar System
      The problem of space threats

    B. M. Shustov is the author of more than 300 scientific papers, including co-author of five monographs; co-author of five patents. Main scientific results are:
  • A new direction in the theory of star formation has been developed the theory of chemical-dynamic evolution of protostars. The theory gave the key to understanding the general nature and specific properties of dense clumps of molecular clouds precursors of stars;
  • The theory of the interaction of stars with interstellar matter at various evolutionary stages, as well as the theory of the chemical evolution of galaxies, taking into account the interaction (exchange of heavy elements) with the intergalactic medium, is developed;
  • A comprehensive scientific approach to solving the problem of asteroid-comet danger has been developed;
  • The scientific program of the international project "Spektr-UF" (WSO-UV) has been developed. The goal of the project is to create a large space observatory of the ultraviolet range to solve fundamental problems of astrophysics, cosmology and physics. B.Shustov is the PI of the project.

  • Member of the Bureau of the Department of Physical Sciences of the Russian Academy of Sciences. Chairman of the Expert Council in the field of "Astronomy, space research"
