Unlike most astronomy satellites, TAUVEX will fly in a geosynchronous orbit and will therefore scan over the sky using the orbital motion of the satellite. The primary goal of TAUVEX will be to get deep UV images of the sky near the celestial poles where we expect to attain sensitivities of better than 20th magnitude in the UV.<\/p>\n<p>The mission is a collaboration between Tel Aviv University and the Indian Institute of Astrophysics where scientists from both countries will share the scientific results. The launch is expected in June\/July 2009.
