Reorganization of the IAU’s Divisional Structure.<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The IAU GA XXVIII in Beijing has approved the new Divisional restructuring (http:\/\/www.iau.org\/static\/resolutions\/IAU2012_English.pdf<\/a>). The new Division Presidents and Vice-Presidents have reassigned existing Commissions to the new Divisions. It was decided that Commission 14 becomes a commission of Division B: Facilities, Technologies and Data Science. The special interdisciplinary role and nature of Commission 14 were, in this way, recognized and encouraged.<\/p>\n

Commission 14 fulfills its role by informing the astronomical community of new developments in our various fields through specific involvement and support of IAU Symposia and Joint Discussions, and by Reports of the Working Groups. Symposia and Joint Discussions at the General Assemblies are especially important means by which we acquire and provide information on the needs for, and availability of, atomic and molecular data.<\/p>\n
